- Children: The usual starting dose is 10 mg per kilogram of body weight per day taken by mouth, split into 2 to 4 smaller doses taken throughout the day. It may be increased gradually up to a maximum daily dose of 65 mg per kilogram of body weight or 3,000 mg per day, whichever is less.
