Indications

Vivelle-Dot is a prescription patch used to reduce symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, burning, and irritation. It is indicated to release estradiol continuously upon application to the skin and is prescribed as hormone replacement therapy to menopausal women with a uterus. Vivelle-Dot is a transdermal patch that contains estradiol, a female hormone (estrogen). When applied to the skin, the patch slowly releases estradiol into the bloodstream over three to four days.

The estradiol in Vivelle-Dot works by binding to estrogen receptors in different tissues throughout the body, including the brain, bones, and reproductive organs. By binding to these receptors, estradiol can help relieve symptoms of menopause and may also have other benefits such as improving bone density and reducing the risk of osteoporosis.

Uses and Dosage

Vivelle-Dot Patch is applied to the lower stomach or upper buttock area twice a week on the same days each week. The dosage and frequency of application depend on the severity of symptoms and other patient factors and should be determined by a healthcare professional.

Before applying the patch, make sure that the skin is clean, dry, and free from any lotion or cream. Remove the patch from its packaging and peel off the protective liner to expose the adhesive side. Apply the patch to the designated area and press firmly in place with the palm of your hand for 10 seconds. Do not rub the patch.

Remove the old patch before applying a new one and change the application site to avoid irritation. One patch should be worn continuously for three to four days (72-96 hours) before replacing it with a new one. If a patch falls off, you can reapply it or replace it with a fresh one. If you miss a dose, apply a new patch as soon as possible and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply more than one patch at a time.
