To use Desowen Cream (Desonide), begin by washing your hands and cleaning and drying the affected area. Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area and gently rub it in 2-3 times daily, or as prescribed by your doctor. In the case of the gel formulation, apply it only 2 times daily.
Adults should apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area of the skin two times a day. Children who are at least 3 months old can also use Desowen Cream, and the dosage will depend on the child’s age and weight.
Follow the instructions on the label and use the medication as directed by a healthcare professional. Avoid using Desowen Cream on broken or infected skin and avoid using it for prolonged periods of time without talking to a doctor. Avoid getting the cream in your eyes, nose, or mouth, as it could worsen or cause glaucoma or irritation.
After applying the medication, wash and dry your hands, unless you are using the medication to treat your hands. Finally, you should only use this medication for the condition prescribed by your doctor. If you have any concerns or questions about using this medication, consult your doctor.
