Indications

Nilandron is a prescription medication used to treat metastatic prostate cancer in conjunction with surgical castration, where cancer has spread beyond the prostate to other parts of the body. It contains an active ingredient called Nilutamide. Nilutamide belongs to a class of drugs known as anti-androgens.

Nilandron is typically used in combination with other treatments such as surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy. Like other anti-androgens, Nilandron works by blocking the effects of testosterone on the prostate gland, which can help to slow or stop the growth of cancer cells.

Use and Dosage

Nilandron is available as an oral tablet and is usually taken once daily for a month, followed by one tablet once daily thereafter. If you are taking Nilandron after surgery, it is usually started on the day of surgery or the day after. Swallow the whole, do not crush, or chew the tablets. The dosage may vary based on your medical condition and response to therapy. The length of treatment depends on how your body and cancer respond to Nilandron and other treatments.

Take Nilandron regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it. Do not stop taking any medications for your prostate cancer unless told to do so by your doctor, as stopping medications could allow the cancer to spread more rapidly.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
