To use Bactroban nasal ointment, a small amount of the ointment should be applied to the anterior nares (nostrils) twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening) for five days as directed by your healthcare provider.   5. Remove the tube from the nostril and repeat the process for the other nostril.
  6. Gently squeeze your nostrils together and release.
  7. Wash your hands again with soap and water.
