To use Bactroban nasal ointment, a small amount of the ointment should be applied to the anterior nares (nostrils) twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening) for five days as directed by your healthcare provider. The recommended dosages of Bactroban Nasal Ointment can vary depending on the condition being treated and the patient’s age.
When applied to the inside of the nostrils, Bactroban Nasal Ointment works specifically on bacteria that can commonly live in the nose, such as Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant strains known as MRSA). It is used to treat and prevent infections in the nose, including MRSA.
