Yasmin 21 Days belongs to the class of drugs known as birth control pills. Yasmin 21 Days contains a combination of drospirenone (a progestin) and ethinyl estradiol (an estrogen) and is used to prevent pregnancy. Yasmin 21 Days helps to prevent ovulation while changing the mucus in the cervix so it’s more difficult for sperm to enter the uterus. In addition, Yasmin 21 Days prevents the egg from implanting further reducing the risk of pregnancy. Yasmin 21 Days is taken on a 28 day cycle wherein one pill is taken every day for 21 days and then none are taken for 7 days before beginning the next pack. There is also a Yasmin 28 Days formula which includes 7 non-medicinal reminder tablets.

The generic alternative is not manufactured by the same company that makes the brand product (Yasmin 21 Days).

Yasmin works by preventing the release of an egg from an ovary (ovulation) and cause changes to the uterine and cervical lining so it will be more difficult for the sperm to reach the uterus and for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.
