Indications

Refresh Tears is available over the counter used to relieve dryness and irritation of the eyes by providing lubrication to the ocular surface. The drops contain a combination of lubricants, including carboxymethylcellulose sodium, and glycerin that work together to provide long-lasting relief for dry and irritated eyes. It helps keep the eye moist, helps to protect the eye from injury and infection, and decreases symptoms of dry eyes such as burning, itching, and feeling as if something is in the eye.

Uses and Dosage

Refresh Tears is an eye medication that is typically used 1 to 2 times daily as needed. If using an ointment once a day, it may be best to use it at bedtime. To use Refresh Tears eye drops, follow these steps:

  1. Wash your hands to ensure cleanliness and prevent the introduction of any bacteria or other contaminants.
  2. Open the bottle by twisting the cap off.
  3. Tilt your head back or lie down and look up.
  4. Use your index finger or thumb to gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  5. Hold the eye drop bottle upside down over your eye, making sure the dropper tip does not touch your eye, eyelid, or any other surface.
  6. Squeeze the bottle to release one drop into your eye. Only use the number of drops recommended by your doctor or as indicated on the label.
  7. Close your eye for a few seconds to allow the drop to spread across your eye.
  8. Gently press your finger against the inner corner of your eye near your nose, to prevent the drop from draining down into your tear duct.
  9. Repeat with the other eye, if necessary.
  10. Replace the cap on the bottle and store it according to the instructions on the label.

If you have any concerns about how to use Refresh Tears eye drops or if you experience any adverse reactions, you should consult your doctor or a qualified health professional.
