Trusopt Eyedrops (active ingredient: dorzolamide hcl) is a prescription medication indicated for the following:

  1. Open-Angle Glaucoma: Trusopt Eyedrops are used to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma, a condition characterized by increased pressure within the eye that can lead to vision loss.
  2. Ocular Hypertension: It is also indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension, which is an increase in eye pressure that can be a risk factor for glaucoma.

Trusopt belongs to a class of drugs known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, which work by decreasing the production of aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye), thereby lowering intraocular pressure.

Before applying Trusopt Eyedrops, Wash your hands before handling the eye drops. Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface to avoid contamination. The usual recommended dose for adults is one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops with preservative. Wait at least 15 minutes after using the medication before putting in your contact lenses.

Follow these steps to use Trusopt Eye Drops as directed by your doctor:

  1. Tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch.
  2. Hold the dropper above your eye and place one drop into the pouch of your lower eyelid.
  3. Close your eyes gently for 1 to 2 minutes and apply gentle pressure with your finger at the corner of your eye near the nose. This will prevent the medication from draining out and improve its absorption.
  4. Repeat these steps for your other eye if required.
  5. Replace the dropper cap after each use.
  6. Don’t rinse the dropper.

Use Trusopt regularly at the same times each day as prescribed by your doctor.
