Your healthcare provider will use this information to determine whether Motegrity is appropriate for you and whether additional monitoring is needed during treatment.
Mental Health Considerations
Some people taking Motegrity have reported changes in mood, including depression and suicidal thoughts. Although these events are uncommon, it is important to monitor for any changes in mood, behavior, or emotional well-being while taking this medication.
Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience:
- New or worsening depression
- Unusual mood changes
- Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
- Significant changes in behavior
Kidney Problems
If you have kidney disease or reduced kidney function, your healthcare provider may recommend a lower dose of Motegrity. Be sure to inform your healthcare provider about any kidney-related conditions before starting treatment.
Conditions Where Motegrity Should Not Be Used

Tell your healthcare provider if you have digestive conditions such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, as Motegrity may not be appropriate in some situations.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant, discuss this with your healthcare provider before taking Motegrity.
The safety of Motegrity during pregnancy has not been fully established. The medication should only be used during pregnancy when clearly needed and when the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks.
If you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed, speak with your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of treatment.

Do not take Motegrity if you are allergic to prucalopride or any of the ingredients in the medication.
Seek immediate medical attention if you develop signs of a serious allergic reaction, including:
- Difficulty breathing

Motegrity may cause dizziness in some people, especially when first starting treatment.
Until you know how the medication affects you, avoid:
- Driving
- Operating machinery
- Activities that require alertness or quick reactions
Alcohol and marijuana (cannabis) may increase dizziness and other side effects. Limit alcohol consumption and discuss marijuana use with your healthcare provider before taking Motegrity.
Regular follow-up appointments can help your healthcare provider monitor your response to treatment and ensure that Motegrity remains safe and effective for your condition.
