Indications

Zostrix-HP is a topical analgesic cream used to treat minor aches and pains in the muscles and joints, such as arthritis, backache, sprains, and diabetic nerve pain. It contains 0.08% capsaicin as its active ingredient. Capsaicin works by temporarily reducing a certain substance in the body that helps transmit pain signals to the brain.

Use and Dosage

Zostrix-HP cream should be applied to the affected area three to four times a day or as directed by a healthcare provider. Hands should be washed thoroughly before and after application, and it should not be applied to wounds or damaged skin.

Do not use Zostrix HP cream on any area of skin other than the intended application site. It is vital to read and follow all directions on the product package. Avoid getting Zostrix HP cream in your eyes, mouth, nostrils, or genitals. In case of any exposure to these areas, rinse with plenty of water. If the area of application is injured, scraped, sunburnt or irritated, do not apply the medication.

Do not apply Zostrix HP cream before or after activities such as swimming, bathing, sunbathing, or engaging in heavy exercise. It is also not advisable to bandage or wrap the affected area, or to use a heating pad in that area. These activities may increase the risk of experiencing side effects.

Wash your hands after using Zostrix HP cream, except when treating your hands. If treating your hands, give at least 30 minutes from the time of application before washing your hands.

For effective usage of Zostrix HP cream, use it regularly at the same time each day. It may take up to two months to experience relief. If your pain lasts longer than seven days, gets worse, or repeatedly comes back, contact your healthcare provider. Seek immediate medical assistance if you suspect a serious medical problem.
