Indications

Patanase nasal spray is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children over the age of 6 years.

Patanase nasal spray contains the active ingredient olopatadine hydrochloride, which is an H1 receptor antagonist that works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance produced by the body in response to allergens.

Use and Dosage

The recommended dosage for Patanase nasal spray for adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older is two sprays per nostril twice daily. The total amount of medication cannot be assured after 240 sprays have been used.

To use Patanase nasal spray, follow these steps:

  1. If you have not used the spray before or if it has not been used for more than 7 days, you will need to prime the pump. To do this, hold the bottle upright and pump the spray into the air away from your face until a fine mist appears.
  2. Blow your nose gently to clear your nostrils.
  3. Shake the bottle well before use.
  4. Remove the cap from the nozzle.
  5. Tilt your head slightly forward and insert the nozzle into one nostril.
  6. While breathing in through your nose, press down firmly on the pump to release a spray into your nostril.
  7. Breathe out through your mouth.
  8. Repeat steps 5-7 for the other nostril.
  9. Wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue and replace the cap.
  10. Store the bottle at room temperature, away from heat and direct sunlight.

Use Patanase nasal spray exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed. If you have any questions about how to use the spray, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
