Indications

Motilium (active ingredient: domperidone) is a prescription medication indicated for the following uses:

  1. Relief of Symptoms of Nausea and Vomiting: Motilium is indicated for the relief of symptoms of nausea and vomiting, including those associated with certain medical conditions, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastroparesis, and chemotherapy.
  2. Treatment of Symptoms of Gastroparesis: It is used to treat symptoms of gastroparesis, a condition characterized by delayed gastric emptying, including nausea, vomiting, early satiety, bloating, and abdominal discomfort.

Motilium belongs to the drug class known as dopamine receptor antagonists, which work by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract, leading to an increase in gastrointestinal motility and acceleration of gastric emptying. This action helps alleviate symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and gastroparesis.

Uses and Dosage

If you are prescribed Motilium in tablet form, you should take it 15 to 30 minutes before meals. It is usually prescribed three times a day or as directed by the doctor. In case you miss a dose, it is recommended to take it at the scheduled time.
