It can be increased by 25 mg every 3 to 7 days, with a maximum of 150 to 300 mg/day. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 300 mg. Increases should preferably be made in late afternoon and/or bedtime doses.
The recommended dosage of amitriptyline for Geriatric Dose is 10 mg orally three times a day and 20 mg orally once a day at bedtime.
