Flector Patch should be applied directly to clean, dry, intact skin over the painful area. Use it exactly as directed by your healthcare provider.
The goal is to place the patch over the area where the pain is most noticeable so diclofenac can be absorbed through the skin and help reduce local pain and inflammation.
Open the Envelope Carefully
Flector Patch comes in a resealable envelope that helps protect the unused patches.
When you open the package for the first time, cut along the marked edge as instructed. Remove one patch, then reseal the envelope immediately.
Keep the Remaining Patches Sealed
Always close the envelope tightly after taking out a patch.
If the package is left open, the remaining patches may dry out or lose their ability to stick properly to the skin.
Do Not Cut or Damage the Patch
Flector Patch should be used whole.
Do not cut, tear, fold, trim, or otherwise damage the patch before applying it. Altering the patch may affect how the medication is delivered.
Prepare the Skin
Before applying the patch, make sure the skin is clean, dry, and free of lotions, oils, or creams.
These products may prevent the patch from sticking properly.
Remove the Clear Liner
Carefully peel away the clear protective liner from the adhesive side of the patch.
Try not to touch the sticky surface more than necessary.
Apply the Patch to the Painful Area
Place the patch directly over the area where the pain is strongest.
Press it firmly onto the skin and smooth it down so the entire patch makes good contact with the skin.
Avoid Damaged Skin
Do not apply Flector Patch to cuts, open wounds, burns, infected skin, eczema, rashes, or other irritated areas.
Applying it to damaged skin may increase irritation and change how much diclofenac is absorbed.
How Long to Wear the Patch
Flector Patch is commonly applied twice daily, with each patch worn for about 12 hours, depending on your prescription.
Remove the old patch before applying the next one.
Do not wear more than one patch at a time unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you otherwise.
Use a Different Skin Site When Needed
If possible, avoid repeatedly placing the patch on exactly the same spot if the skin becomes irritated.
Your healthcare provider may recommend placing the next patch over a nearby painful area of intact skin.
If the Patch Starts to Peel
If the edges begin to lift, you may use first-aid tape around the edges to help keep it in place.
Do not cover the entire patch with an airtight bandage or wrap unless your healthcare provider tells you to do so.
Avoid Heat Over the Patch
Do not place heating pads, electric blankets, hot water bottles, or other heat sources over Flector Patch.
Heat may increase the amount of diclofenac absorbed through the skin and could raise the risk of side effects.
Keep the Patch Dry
Try to keep the patch securely attached during the prescribed wear time.
If it becomes loose, damaged, or falls off, follow your healthcare provider’s or pharmacist’s instructions about whether to replace it.
Wash Your Hands After Handling the Patch
Wash your hands after applying or removing Flector Patch unless your hands are the area being treated.
This helps prevent diclofenac from accidentally getting into your eyes, mouth, or other sensitive areas.
Avoid Contact With the Eyes
After handling the patch, avoid touching your eyes.
If medication from the patch accidentally gets into your eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water and contact your healthcare provider if irritation continues.
How to Remove the Patch
At the end of the prescribed wear time, gently peel the patch away from your skin.
Avoid pulling it off roughly, especially if your skin is sensitive.
Dispose of Used Patches Safely
Fold the used patch in half with the sticky sides together.
Place it in the trash where children and pets cannot reach it. Even after use, the patch may still contain some medication.
Do Not Reuse a Patch
Each Flector Patch is meant for one-time use only.
Do not try to reapply a patch after it has been removed.
Do Not Use Extra Patches
Using more patches than prescribed will not necessarily provide better pain relief.
It can increase the amount of diclofenac absorbed into your body and may raise the risk of NSAID-related side effects, including stomach bleeding, kidney problems, or cardiovascular effects.
Getting the Best Results
For the best results, apply Flector Patch to intact skin directly over the painful area, keep the unused patches sealed, and follow the prescribed wear schedule carefully.
If your pain does not improve, becomes worse, or you develop significant skin irritation under the patch, contact your healthcare provider.
