Pataday (active ingredient: olopatadine) is a prescription medication indicated for:
- Allergic Conjunctivitis: Pataday is used for the treatment of ocular itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis in adults and children aged 2 years and older.
Pataday belongs to a class of drugs known as mast cell stabilizers and selective histamine receptor antagonists, which work by preventing the release of histamine and other substances that contribute to allergic reactions in the eyes.
Uses and Dosage
Pataday comes in a bottle with a dropper tip for easy application. It should be applied directly to the affected eye(s) according to the instructions on the product package or as directed by your doctor. Caution
- Before using Pataday (olopatadine) eye drops, wash your hands first to avoid contamination of the solution. To prevent eye infections, do not touch the dropper tip with your eye, hands, or any other surface.
- After using Pataday (olopatadine) eye drops, if you wear soft contacts, take them out and wait for 10 minutes before putting them back in. Do not put your contacts back in if your eyes are red to avoid complications.
- Pataday eye drops should only be applied to the surface of the eye and should not be swallowed or used as an injection. If you experience any discomfort or allergic reaction after using Pataday eye drops, seek medical attention immediately.
- After applying olopatadine eye drops, your vision may become temporarily blurred. Avoid driving, using machinery, or engaging in any activity which requires clear vision until you can do it safely.
