Before starting Trelegy Ellipta, tell your doctor or pharmacist about any allergies you have. This is especially important if you are allergic to fluticasone furoate, umeclidinium, vilanterol, corticosteroids, anticholinergic medications, or milk proteins.
Trelegy Ellipta contains lactose, which may contain small amounts of milk protein. People with a severe milk protein allergy should not use this medication because it may cause a serious allergic reaction. A milk protein allergy is different from lactose intolerance. People with lactose intolerance usually have difficulty digesting lactose, while a milk protein allergy involves an immune-system reaction.
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of a serious allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing, wheezing, hives, severe rash, dizziness, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, mouth, or throat.
Heart and Blood Vessel Conditions
Trelegy Ellipta should be used cautiously in people with certain heart or blood vessel conditions. Tell your healthcare provider if you have:
- Coronary artery disease or reduced blood flow to the heart
- High blood pressure
- An irregular heartbeat
- A fast heartbeat
- Heart failure
- Other cardiovascular conditions
Vilanterol, one of the active ingredients in Trelegy Ellipta, is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist. Medications in this class may sometimes increase heart rate, raise blood pressure, or cause changes in heart rhythm.
Contact your healthcare provider if you develop chest pain, a fast or pounding heartbeat, worsening shortness of breath, dizziness, or fainting while using Trelegy Ellipta.
Corticosteroid Sensitivity
Trelegy Ellipta contains fluticasone furoate, an inhaled corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation in the airways.
Tell your healthcare provider if you have ever experienced an allergic reaction or unusual sensitivity to a corticosteroid medication. Although inhaled corticosteroids mainly act inside the lungs, they may still cause local or body-wide side effects, particularly when used at higher doses or for long periods.
Avoid Similar Medications
Do not use Trelegy Ellipta with another medication that contains a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist, also known as a LABA, unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so. Using more than one LABA medication may increase the risk of serious side effects, including a rapid heartbeat, irregular heart rhythm, tremors, headache, or changes in blood pressure.
You should also avoid using Trelegy Ellipta with another anticholinergic medication unless directed by your healthcare provider. Umeclidinium, one of the ingredients in Trelegy Ellipta, is an anticholinergic. Combining it with similar medications may increase side effects such as dry mouth, constipation, difficulty urinating, blurred vision, or worsening glaucoma symptoms.
Always check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting a new inhaler, cold medication, allergy medicine, or other treatment.
Medical Conditions to Discuss
Before using Trelegy Ellipta, tell your healthcare provider about all your current and previous medical conditions. This includes:
- Heart disease or high blood pressure
- Irregular heart rhythms
- Glaucoma or increased pressure inside the eyes
- An enlarged prostate or difficulty urinating
- Seizures
- Thyroid disorders
- Diabetes
- Liver problems
- Osteoporosis or a history of bone fractures
- Tuberculosis
- A weakened immune system
- Current or recurring infections
- Eye conditions such as cataracts

Important Safety Reminder
Trelegy Ellipta is intended for regular maintenance treatment. It should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Keep your prescribed rescue inhaler available and seek urgent medical attention if your breathing suddenly becomes worse or your rescue medication does not provide relief.
