To apply Betoptic Eyedrops, first wash your hands. To avoid contaminating the dropper, do not allow it to touch your eye or any other surface. Before using the drops, remove contact lenses if applicable and wait at least 15 minutes before replacing them.
To administer the drops, tilt your head back and look upward. Pull down your lower eyelid to create a pouch and hold the dropper directly over your eye. Dispense one drop into the pouch, typically twice daily or as prescribed by your doctor. Close your eyes gently for 1 to 2 minutes, and place one finger at the corner of your eye near your nose to apply gentle pressure and prevent the medication from draining out. Do not rub your eyes or blink during this time. Repeat these steps for the other eye if instructed to or if your dose requires more than one drop.
After use, do not rinse the dropper. Simply replace the cap. If using other eye medications such as ointments, wait at least 10 minutes before applying the next medication. Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the drops to enter the eye.
To ensure the best results, use Betoptic Eyedrops regularly at the same time(s) every day. Continue to use it even if you feel well as many people with glaucoma or high eye pressure do not experience symptoms.
