Indications

Dovonex solution is a synthetic topical medication used to treat plaque psoriasis, including chronic, moderately severe psoriasis of the scalp. It may be used alone or in combination with other medications (topical corticosteroid, cyclosporin A, or acitretin).

Dovonex solution contains the active ingredient Calcipotriol, which is a synthetic vitamin D3 derivative. It works by reducing inflammation and slowing down the excessive production of skin cells, which helps to alleviate the symptoms of psoriasis and scalp psoriasis.

Calcipotriol is only for use on the skin and scalp and should not be used in other parts of the body, such as the eyes, nose, mouth, or inside the vagina.

Use and Dosage

Before applying, comb your hair to remove scaly flakes. Gently rub the medication into the affected areas of the scalp twice a day or as directed by your doctor. Be careful not to let any of the solution spread onto your forehead or any other unaffected area. After application, wash your hands thoroughly. Avoid getting medication in your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse the affected area with plenty of water.

Do not use the medication more often or for longer than prescribed by your healthcare provider, as this may increase the risk of side effects. Use Dovonex Solution regularly at the same times each day to get the most benefit from it. If your skin condition does not improve or worsens, inform your doctor. Improvement in your skin condition should typically be observed after two weeks of treatment.
