Table of contents:

Vimovo is a prescription medication indicated to provide relief from the symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis while reducing the risk of stomach ulcers and other gastrointestinal problems in adult and adolescent patients 12 years of age and older weighing at least 38 kg.

Vimovo contains two active ingredients: Naproxen and Esomeprazole. Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

Uses and Dosage

Vimovo is an oral medication that comes in the form of Modified Release Tablets. It should be taken as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily (in the morning and evening) at least 30 minutes before a meal, with a full glass of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. After taking the tablet, do not lie down for at least 10 minutes to avoid any potential side effects. The tablet should be swallowed whole - do not break, chew, crush or dissolve the tablet as this can destroy the slow release of the drug and increase side effects.

To achieve the maximum benefit from Vimovo, it should be used regularly at the same times eachday. It may take up to 2 weeks of taking the tablet until you experience the full effect. If your condition persists or worsens, inform your doctor as the risk of side effects increases over time. Consult with your doctor on the recommended duration for taking this medication.
