Zofran is an 5-HT3 receptor antagonist that is used to prevent nausea and vomiting that can be caused by surgery or cancer treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Zofran works by inhibiting serotonin which is responsible for a multitude of nervous functions such as mood, appetite, and metabolism. Unfortunately, serotonin is also responsible for triggering nausea and vomiting, but Zofran works to prevent its release.

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have any other medical condition, if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine if you suffer from phenylketonuria.

What Important Information Should I Know Before Taking Zofran?

Zofran can be taken with or without food.
Zofran can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions.
Use caution while driving or operating any machinery as it mmay cause drowsiness or dizziness.
Dont use Zofran after abdominal surgery or chemotherapy may mask the symptoms of an intestinal blockage (abdominal ileus).
People with long QT syndrome should not take Zofran.

Inform your doctor if you have:
phenylketonuria (PKU).
liver disease
family history of Long QT syndrome.

What Are the Side effects of Zofran?

Most severe: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; tightness in the chest); slow heartbeat.

Most common: Headache; general body discomfort; tiredness; constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; wound problem; drowsiness; fever; gynecological problems; anxiety; agitation; shivers; urinary problems; itching; flushing.

Other: Anxiety, fever, flushing, hiccups, hives, itching, rash, rolling eyes, wheezing

Domperidone is used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by other drugs used to treat Parkinson’s disease. It increases the movements or contractions of the stomach and bowel.

Before using Domperidone, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant or breastfeeding; if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine; if you have any other medical conditions; if you have high blood pressure.

Before using Domperidone tell your doctor if you:

Have bleeding from the stomach or other problems involving the bowels
Have a pituitary (brain) tumor
Have liver disease
Have a sensitivity to Domperidone

Domperidone is excreted in breast milk, and no studies on its effects on breastfeeding infants have been reported.

Domperidone Side Effects

Most severe: Loss of balance or muscle control, swelling of the mouth, fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse, swelling of face, hands, lower legs, or feet.
