Maxidex Eye Solution

Maxidex (Dexamethasone ophthalmic) is a corticosteroid used to treat swelling, redness, itching, irritation of the eyes and eyelids due to infections, injury, and surgery. It works by acting directly within the cells that cause inflammation, thereby reducing swelling, redness and itching.

Before using Maxidex, inform your doctor if you have any bacterial, viral, or fungal infection in your eye. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breast-feeding.

Do not use Maxidex while driving or operating machinery as it may cause temporary blurring of vision. Do not use this medicine excessively and for prolonged periods of time. Valcyte tablets are used in the treatment of an eye disease (cytomegalovirus retinitis), that takes hold when the immune system is damaged by AIDS. It is also used to prevent CMV disease in people who’ve had a kidney, heart or kidney-pancreas transplant.

Special information about Valcyte

Valcyte is not a cure for CMV infection. It may lower your body’s ability to fight infection. To prevent bleeding, avoid situations in which bruising or injury may occur. Report any unusual bleeding, bruising, blood in stools, or dark, tarry stools to your doctor.

What is Dantrium used for?

Dantrium is a muscle relaxant that helps treat spasms caused by nerve disorders such as, stroke, spinal cord injury, or cerebral palsy. By restoring a healthy level of calcium in the muscles, or interfering with the release of substances that are needed by the muscles for contraction, Dantrium prevents or reduces severe (high) body temperature.

Do not use Dantrium if you

  • are allergic to any of the ingredients which are present in Dantrium;
  • have active liver disease, heart disease, or any lung problems.

Tell your doctor if:

  • you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding (Dantrium is excreted in breast milk);
  • you are older then 35 years;
  • you are using estrogen;

Nalcrom

Nalcrom is used to treat mastocytosis which is caused by the presence of too many mast cells in the body. It works by acting on the mast cells in the body to prevent them from releasing substances that cause symptoms of the disease, such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, flushing or itching of skin, or hives.

Dosage

For Adults and children 12 years of age and older — The starting dose for this age group is 200 mg mixed in water and should be taken four times a day, thirty minutes before meals and at bedtime.

For Children 2 to 12 years of age — Starting dose is 100 mg, mixed in water, four times a day, and thirty minutes before meals and at bedtime.

For Infants and children up to 2 years of age — Dose is based on body weight and must be determined by your doctor. The dose starts with 20 mg per kilogram (kg) (9.1 mg per pound) of body weight a day.

Nalcrom Side Effects

Rare side effects – Coughing; difficulty in swallowing; hives or itching of skin; swelling of face, lips, or eyelids; wheezing or difficulty in breathing.

Less common side effects – Skin rash, abdominal pain; irritability; muscle pain; nausea; trouble in sleeping.
