Astelin Nasal Spray

Astelin is a steroid-free anthistamine nasal spray used to treat hay fever and allergy symptoms including runny nose, sneezing, and itchy nose.

How to use Astelin

  • Gently blow your nose before using the nasal spray.
  • The first time you use a new bottle, screw the pump device onto the bottle. Prime the unit by pumping 4 sprays into the air, away from your face. Once a fine mist of medicine appears, the device is ready for use. If more than 3 days have passed since you last used the spray, prime the spray again until a fine mist appears.
  • Insert the spray tip into your nostril, pointing it straight up into your nose. Press your other nostril closed with your finger and keep your head upright. Pump the spray and gently inhale at the same time.
  • Use only the number of sprays prescribed by your doctor. If you are to use the spray in both nostrils, repeat the directions above in your other nostril.
  • Clean the pump nozzle with a clean, damp tissue and recap it.

Try not to sneeze or blow your nose just after using the spray. Talk with your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse. Astelin nasal spray is usually used for up to 4 weeks.

Side effects of Astelin

  • bitter taste in mouth
  • drowsiness
  • headache
  • loss of sensation

Side Effects of Keppra

What is Keppra?

Keppra is used with other medicine to treat epilepsy in patients who are 4 years of age and older. It helps to control the flow of abnormal nerves.

What is epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a chronic disorder of the brain that causes a tendency to have recurrent seizures. Two or more seizures must occur before a person can receive the diagnosis of epilepsy, also known as a seizure disorder. Epilepsy can be related to a brain injury or be heredity.

Seizures occur when there's a sudden change in the normal way your brain cells communicate through electrical signals. During a seizure, some brain cells send abnormal signals, which stop other cells from working properly. This abnormality may cause temporary changes in sensation, behavior, movement or consciousness.

The onset of epilepsy is most common during childhood and after age 65, but the condition can occur at any age. Treatments may be able to leave you free of seizures, or at least reduce their frequency and intensity.

What should I know before using Keppra?

Keppra may be taken with or without food. Do not stop taking Keppra on your own. If the doctor decides to discontinue Keppra, he or she will tell you how to taper off slowly. Sudden discontinuation can increase the frequency of seizures.

Keppra is recommended for pregnant women only if its potential benefits outweigh the potential risk to the baby. Notify your doctor right away if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Additionally, Keppra could cause serious reactions in a nursing infant. Do not take it while nursing.

Keppra can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or engage in other hazardous activities until you're sure the drug will not interfere.

How do I take Keppra?

Take it orally (by mouth) with or without food. Do not crush or chew your tablets. Always take your medicine as prescribed by your doctor.

Side effects of Keppra

Common side effects include:

  • depression;
  • dizziness;
  • drowsiness;
  • headache;
  • infection;
  • loss of muscle coordination;
  • nervousness;
  • pain;
  • runny nose;
  • sore throat;
  • and weakness.

If these side effects persist or worsen while taking Keppra contact your doctor immediately.

Diabeta for type 2 diabetes.

Diabeta is a prescription drug known as a sulfonylurea antidiabetic medicine. Sulfonylureas help insulin get into the cells where it can work properly to lower blood sugar. In this way, Diabeta will help lower blood sugar and help restore the way you use food to make energy. It may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines.

Use of Diabeta

Diabeta is used to treat type 2 diabetes in people who can't control it with diet and exercise alone. Diabeta tablets are used to control high blood sugar which can help to decrease risk of heart disease, strokes, kidney disease, blindness and blood circulation.

What should you know before using Diabeta?

Make sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments as these tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Diabeta. It may increase the risk of low blood sugar. Rarely, alcohol may interact with this medication and cause a serious reaction with symptoms such as flushing, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or stomach pain. Tell your doctor about all other non-prescribed medicines and nutritional supplements and herbal products you are currently taking. Proper diet, regular exercise, and regular blood sugar testing are important for best results with Diabeta. Follow the diet and exercise program given to you by your health care provider.

Before using Diabeta tell your doctor if you:

  • have kidney disease
  • have liver disease
  • have had or are going to have major surgery
  • have a severe infection or injury
  • have thyroid disease
  • have had an unusual or allergic reaction to Diabeta, sulfonamides, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
  • are pregnant or trying to get pregnant
  • are breast-feeding

How do you take Diabeta?

You should take Diabeta by mouth at the same time everyday with food (as prescribed by your doctor). If you are taking 1 dose daily, take Diabeta with breakfast or the first main meal of the day unless your doctor prescribes otherwise. Do not skip your meal while you are taking Diabeta.

What happens if you miss a dose?

If you have missed a dose take as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose.

Side effects of Diabeta

If Diabeta is taken in more quantity then prescribed, it becomes very risky for blood sugar. If any of these severe side effects occur seek medical help right away:

  • severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue);
  • confusion;
  • dark urine;
  • fainting;
  • fever, chills, or persistent sore throat;
  • irregular heartbeat;
  • low blood sugar symptoms (eg, anxiety, dizziness, drowsiness, fast heartbeat, headache, lightheadedness, tremors, unusual sweating, weakness);
  • severe or persistent blurred vision or other vision problems;
  • unusual bruising or bleeding;
  • unusual tiredness or weakness;
  • yellowing of the eyes or skin.

For these common side effects you may need to see your doctor only if they persist or worsen:

  • headache;
  • heartburn, stomach discomfort;
  • increased sensitivity to the sun;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • skin rash, redness, swelling or itching.
